Mathematics enables children to make sense of the world around them by developing their ability to calculate, reason and solve problems. At Hollesley our aim is to provide an exciting maths curriculum that children enjoy, and through which children can develop their mathematical awareness and skills.
Children are taught mathematics every day at Hollesley. Lessons have clear learning objectives so that children can understand the focus of the lesson and can assess their own learning based on this. Children are taught four main areas of study as identified in the National Curriculum: Number; Measurements; Geometry and Statistics. Where possible these aspects are also taught with a range of cross-curricular links to other subjects through the termly themes.
