At Hollesley Primary School we believe in the importance of physical activity for our pupils; we are fortunate to have extensive grounds which are well used. All children have two hours of PE each week throughout the year, and in addition children in years 4, 5 and 6 have weekly swimming lessons at Deben Pool during the autumn and spring terms. The school’s own outdoor pool is in use from April to October and the children throughout the school swim as often as the weather permits.
Schools are allocated a sum of money, called the Primary PE and Sport Funding to support all children and improve the quantity, quality and breadth of PE and sport provision. The allocation is calculated according to the intake of the school, and each school decides how to best allocate the money in support of the aims, so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and increase their participation in sporting activities. This may be in replacing old and worn out / damaged equipment; buying new equipment to meet the needs of our ever-changing pupil needs; used to bring in specialist coaching to support CPD for staff and to develop our planning and lesson delivery to create a lasting legacy for the school and community as a whole.
