Here at Hollesley, we are blessed with extensive grounds which are used throughout the school day for physical education and physical activity. We are an active school and are always looking to develop our sporting provision, sporting success, promote physical activity and instil a life-long love of physical activity.
Our P.E. offering includes two (one hour) lessons per week for each class. In EYFS/KS1 this is based around fundamental movement skills and personal challenge. In LKS2, classes continue to have one skills lesson and one games lesson per week. In UKS2, Y5/6 combine their personal challenge and fundamental skills lesson so that they can attend swimming lessons at a local pool to develop their mastery of different strokes and train for self rescue awards.
We are also proud of our own shallow water pool which is used extensively between Spring and Autumn, allowing 100% of students to gain confidence, learn about water safety and experience basic swimming instruction from Receprion Year.
Outdoor activities are promoted through regular residential trips for KS2 on a two year rolling programme and we hold an annual Sports Week in the Summer Term where students can experience different activities such as golf, bowling and climbing.
We promote The Daily Mile every afternoon as well as after-school extra-curricular sports clubs, lunctime sporting instruction and are a proud member of The School Games.
Post Covid, we have re-instated inter school competition and travel to away fixtures as well as hosting our own matches and small festivals of sport.
