Religious Education (RE)
The school follows National and Local Authority guidelines in R.E. and is concerned with educating the children about religion rather than instructing them in a particular faith. The teaching is concerned with the development of attitudes and values that promote self-respect, respect for others and a willingness to be tolerant of other faiths and cultures. The children are encouraged to develop a respect for the natural world and sensitivity towards the mystery that underlies the human experience.
Collective Worship
There is a daily act of worship for every pupil, which is broadly Christian in character. This is an opportunity for the school to come together to celebrate achievements and share the values of the school.
A range of themes is followed throughout the year. The aims of Collective Worship are:
- To give the children an opportunity to reflect upon spiritual and moral issues.
- To explore their own beliefs and to worship God.
- To encourage participation and response.
- To develop community spirit.
Parents have the right to withdraw their child from assemblies and from R.E. lessons. If you wish to do so, please contact the Headteacher.
