The “Friends of Hollesley School” run several events throughout the year; some of them to raise money for the school and some of them are just for fun. These are constantly evolving but include the annual Christmas Fair, a Halloween “Spooktacular” at the village hall, an Easter Egg Hunt, a non-uniform day, cake stalls and a regular cinema evening for the children. We also hold regular coffee afternoons (with delicious home-baked cakes!) which give parents a chance to get together at school.

Update from Friends

Events

The wildlife area will be officially opened on 13th October 2022 , with teachers, friends members and school children making and installing bug hotels after school.

Harvest 2022 Following our Harvest Celebration at the Church on Monday 17th October 1:30pm, Friends will be hosting refreshments in the School Hall. The renovated Wildlife area will also be open for all to view.

AGM

This year's AGM was held on Wednesday 28 September 2022. There were no volunteers for Chair or Vice Chair so Jules Tyler and Lizz Nunn will continue as Chair and Vice Chair on the proviso they are able to delegate more to other members. This has prevented the Friends folding.

Jo Crisp is remaining Treasurer, with Louisa Grogan to assist.

Natasha Sones is remaining as Social Media Manager and sharing the Secretary’s role with Louisa Grogan.

Tuck shop every Friday after school! Come and get your sweets.

New Playground Trail

The children are now enjoying the exciting new play trail that the Friends have purchased for the school.  Thanks to everyone who has been involved in removing the old equipment (which had become unsafe) and for supporting the Friends’ fundraising efforts over the past couple of years. Thanks as well for the school Governors’ financial contribution which enabled the climbing wall to be included along with the trail.

We hope it will give the children lots of fun and exercise over the coming years!

School Orchard

On Friday 29th March 2014 the “Friends”, along with lots of willing helpers from years 4,5 and 6, began work on the new school orchard.

We planted around 15 trees – which are a mixture of apple, pear, plum, cherry and even apricot!

It was a beautifully sunny spring day and lots of fun was had by all. The children did a really great job of digging holes, shovelling manure and giving the trees a good soaking.
