School Lockdown Resources - C-19

Hello!

During the current C-19 school closures we are missing you all and hope you are all staying safe but also staying as active as possible.  As you know, PE at Hollesley means a minimum of 2 lessons of PE per week as well as active lessons, the Daily Mile, School Games competitions and other extra curricular clubs and matches. All of which I'm sure many of you students (and staff) are really missing.

While schools are closed, the Government has suggested exercise of between 30 minutes and an hour outside the home as long as you stay safe and adhere to the guidelines. We know this is not always possible (or attainable for some who have health issues) so we will endeavour to publish ideas to help you keep active over the coming weeks. We will provide links to online workouts (including government sponsored links) and forward some of the amazing ideas coming from our friends in local schools and Suffolk School Games etc.

If you have found an amazing activity you'd like us to share, please get in touch with Mr P using his school email address or via admin.

Stay active, stay safe and keep fit.

Premier Sport have released a series of home exercise ideas at  https://www.premier-education.com/physical-resources/. It just requires an email and no obligation to sign up for newsletters etc, so if you are at your wit's end and need something active, follow the link. There are plenty of really nice resources which can be downloaded and printed from pdf files.

If you do any, don't forget you could win a goody-bag from School Games by having a parent send the school admin a photo of you doing anything active and we'll forward it on to them for their weekly Twitter competition.

The KS2 players had a great experience at the Suffolk School Games Tag Rugby Festival and played with smiles and a fantastic attitude. The squad really supported each other and scored some scintillating tries. We won a couple, lost a couple...but the only way to improve is attend events like these, so thank you to all the parents and supporters for making such a great afternoon.

Congratulations Harry K for winning Hollesley's Fair Play award which was awarded by the Sports Leaders who kindly gave up their time to referee the matches so well.

Y3-4 Football v Waldringfield Primary (Away) 20th September 2019

Waldringfield 4 Hollesley 3

On a beautiful afternoon, we travelled to Waldringfield Primary School. The match was a very even affair and played in good spirits. Playing 20  minutes each way. The match was played under 7 a-side rules meaning no offsides and players having to return to their own half when the opposition htook a goal kick., it really was end to end stuff, with everyone getting stuck in and playing as a team. Some lovely play on both sides saw Hollesley rewarded a well earned equaliser in the first half. Waldringfield nearly broke the post with a shot of their own direct from a corner and at half time scores were tied. Both teams pressed hard and tackles were strong but fair, resulting in Waldringfiel scoring 2 break-away goals. With only 5 minutes minutes to play, Hollesley tried as hard as they could, scoring late on after a goal mouth scramble, but just couldn't score the goal they needed and the match ended with victory for Waldringfield.I would just like to say that the players on both sides were fantasticly sporting. They were supportive and played fairly, and we look forward to a return in Autumn 2.

Player of the day: Charlie Green for amazing cover defence whilst acting as our sweeper in front of goal.
